Turn your semiconductor amplifier into a tube amplifier! Damping Factor Adjustment Resistor Box
The difference in sound quality between semiconductor amplifiers and vacuum tube amplifiers is attributed to the damping factor (DF) and signal distortion. DF, in particular, significantly impacts sound quality.
Most semiconductor amplifiers have a DF of two digits or more, while vacuum tube amplifiers have a considerably lower DF. Single-ended amplifiers using popular output tubes like the 300B or 2A3 have a DF of 2-3.
Therefore, this unit is designed to lower the DF of semiconductor amplifiers by inserting resistors between the speakers, bringing the sound quality closer to that of vacuum tube amplifiers.
I believe there are no commercially available products like this, so I made it myself. You can set the resistance value by selecting the terminals, allowing you to listen to semiconductor amplifiers with your preferred sound quality.
