6V6 Beam Tube Connected Single Vacuum Tube Amplifier - DIY - New

This is a custom-built amplifier, slightly modified from the 6V6 beam tube single-ended amplifier designed by Ichiro Aki, which was serialized in MJ magazine.
All components used are brand new. (Especially important components like transformers are genuine General Transformer products.)

The circuit, refined by Mr. Aki over a long period, is truly flawless in its sound quality.
As a 6V6 single-ended amplifier, it boasts top-class tone, characteristics, and resolution!
It's significantly better than kit products around ¥150,000.
The hum on the right channel, which Mr. Aki mentioned in his article as being slightly larger, has been resolved by changing the component and wiring layout to keep the power supply and amplification sections as far apart as possible.
Therefore, although the appearance is completely different from the example in the article, the circuit is the same. I've attached a copy of the vacuum tube combination considerations at the end of the photos for your reference.

Listening Impressions: While retaining the realistic tone characteristic of single-ended amplifiers, it offers a well-balanced sound that rivals modern digital amplifiers. It handles everything from the sibilance in vocals to the double bass in a full orchestra without issue. The separation of each part is excellent, allowing for clear listening of fine details.
What impressed me the most was the excellent perceived S/N ratio. It's hard to believe it's a vacuum tube amplifier; with no signal, there is absolutely no noise audible at any volume setting.
The high level of sound completion means it can be used for any genre without hesitation.
With an output of 3W, you might feel it lacks power in very large rooms. (In my 8-tatami room, the volume at 11 o'clock was sufficiently powerful.) However, when paired with high-efficiency floor-standing speakers, it can certainly serve as your main system. (Comparable to the renowned 2A3 tubes.)

The set includes the main unit, four vacuum tubes, and a temporary power cable.
