Vintage Traditional Panama Kuna Mola with birds. My travels. Handmade.

This piece is a Kuna Mola, a traditional hand-stitched reverse applique textile from Panama featuring intricate bird motifs.  Molas are created by the Guna (or Kuna) people as part of their traditional clothing, showcasing complex, colorful designs.Similar vintage Kuna molas featuring bird designs are often used as framed wall art or collectible folk art. The technique involves layering colorful fabrics and cutting away sections to reveal the colors beneath, often finished with detailed needlework. You can frame it (please see my last photo) or you can sew on the back of your jacket.
