Hand-carved Wooden Toucan Bird Figurine
Mid-century hand-carved toucan made from a tropical hardwood, likely pau ferro (Bolivian rosewood) or a similar rosewood-type wood. * The carving is made from a single piece of wood, including the base. * The wood shows the dark streaking and fine grain often seen in pau ferro. * The stylized shape and carved eye are typical of Brazilian export carvings from the 1960s–1980s. Statue stands approx 4 1/2” tall and is approx 4” from tip of beak edge of base wide. Beautifully done.
