A highly popular German string instrument manufacturer, the largest in the industry. This is an early serial number (5 digits) vintage KARL HOFNER violin, believed to be from the early 1970s. It is a handmade viola crafted by artisans.
Due to numerous scratches and dirt, it is offered at a low price.
Since the late 2000s, Karl Hofner has been mass-producing instruments under 300,000 yen in China. Karl Hofner was acquired in 1994, and due to a focus on profit, they switched to Chinese manufacturing.
The Hofner violin being offered here was made by artisans in a German workshop. The figuring on the back plate and the sides are very fine and beautiful.
