This bow was an interesting purchase I made from overseas a long time ago.
Considering it's over 150 years old, it's in very good condition.
I was told it's a bow from the Maire school, but I haven't had it authenticated, so I can't confirm its authenticity. However, with such old characteristics, the authenticity becomes less of a concern.
The frog style is an open frog, typical of bows from the 1800s, lacking a ferrule and slide on the frog.
Overall, it doesn't have the sharp feel of newer bows (meaning those made after around 1900).
The handling is forgiving even for a beginner player like myself, and the weight of the bow feels naturally applied.

------------↓About Nicolas Maire↓
Nicolas Maire was born in Mirecourt in 1800 and died in 1878. He is believed to have trained under the renowned bow maker Etienne PAJEOT, and Maire's early bows were influenced by E. Pajeot and ADAM.
After Pajeot's death, he is said to have opened a shop in Paris. It seems he also worked as a subcontractor for J.B. Vuillaume and Chanot, producing bows under their brands, and is thought to have made a considerable number of bows.
------------

The bow is in good condition, with no breaks, no strange bends, and no particular issues. I won't comment on the sound quality as it depends on the violin and individual preferences.
The bow hair is fine, but it hasn't been replaced in many years, so please arrange for rehairing at your own expense if necessary.
