【Engraved Stone Seal with Artist's Signature / Pre-engraved Ancient Seal】

This is a large seal stone featuring a profound presence and the powerful message carved into it.

This piece is from a collection that my grandfather cherished and kept safe. (bow)

This item is not merely a seal stone, but rather a complete work of seal carving, imbued with the philosophy of the inscription and the artist's intent.

■ Inscription: 佗山之石 可以攻玉 (Wabi-yama no ishi, kan-i tama o migaku)

This is a phrase inspired by the famous quote 他山之石 可以攻玉 (Tasan no ishi, kan-i tama o migaku) from the Chinese classic Book of Songs.

The meaning is:
Stones from other mountains can be used to polish jade.
In other words, it teaches that one can learn from things different from oneself and refine oneself.

Originally, it is written as 他山之石, but this piece uses the character 佗, giving it a unique archaic or variant character feel.

This inscription is rich in meaning, encompassing universal philosophy based on classics, as well as the nuances of different character expressions.

■ Artist's Signature: 紫山刻 (Zishan Ke)
The inscription 紫山刻 is present.
It is rare to find pieces with both a philosophical inscription and an artist's signature.
This is a unique piece that conveys the artist's intention and its value as a one-of-a-kind artwork.

■ Details
・Weight: Approximately 853g (considerably heavy for a seal)
・Size: Approximately 6.2cm square × height approximately 7.5cm (to the highest point)
*Please allow for slight errors due to manual measurement.
・Seal Face: An ancient seal-style geometric pattern (Shu-bun, raised characters) has been engraved.
・Material: Natural stone (with stone patterns)
⭐️ While not a specific famous stone like Shoushan stone or Balin stone, it possesses the charm of a decorative stone, with a landscape-like stone surface reminiscent of Chrysanthemum stone or Plum Blossom stone.

There are fine cracks around the seal face due to age, but overall it is in good condition for a vintage item.
There are no issues with its strength, and no damage that would hinder its use.
It has developed a calm texture as aged stone surface.

■ Usage
Recommended primarily for display, as a study decoration, or as a paperweight.
Since it is engraved, it can also be used as a functional seal.
This is a seal stone that enhances any space simply by being placed there.

This is not a perfect item like new, but rather a piece that allows you to enjoy the unique taste and character of a one-of-a-kind item that has passed through time.
