Kobaien Tea Ink (Chaboku) - Nameless
This is Chaboku (Tea Ink), manufactured by Kobaien, a long-established ink maker in Nara.
My grandfather purchased this when the price was still 3,000 yen.
Kobaien Manufactured Ink, Unnamed
Product Size:
Width 1.7 cm x Height 7.9 cm x Thickness 1.1 cm
1-cho mold
Ink Master: Kobaien (Nara)
Chaboku (Tea Ink)
Features a tea-like quality and elegance within its softness, achieved through Kobaien's unique processing.
The ink allows for versatile shading; the lighter the ink wash, the more reddish it becomes.
Suitable for a variety of works, including calligraphy, sumi-e (ink wash painting), and haiga (Japanese painting).
Color: As the name Chaboku suggests, when ground and used, it produces a reddish-brown black. When ground thickly, it appears as a brownish-black, and when thinned (as an ink wash), a bright reddish-brown hue becomes prominent.
*Please refer to the photos for the amount of used ink.
