Handmade Sterling Silver Snake Earrings: Black Onyx Gothic Serpent

Stunning snakes and stones to dangle from your ears!  I have always been fascinated with the history of snake jewelry.  This is a handcrafted sterling silver snake earrings that make quite a statement at over 3 long!  They feature a faceted black onyx stones that dangle and sparkles in the light. The bodies have a hand hammered texture that also picks up the light.  These are out of a nice thickness of sterling. They hang from sterling ear wires.  Fabulous, unique look! The snake has a dual representation  of good and evil, fertility and rebirth, poison and medicine.  Throughout history different civilizations used serpents symbolism in different ways.   Egyptians as royalty and deity; Rabbinical and Hinduisim, sexual desire and passion;  Romans as everlasting love.  Cleopatra is the most notable historic figure wearing snake jewelry however  Native Americans , Nordic, Greek, and African, have used the snake symbol with different meanings.  Queen Victorian made the wearing of snake jewelry popular after Prince Albert proposed with the  first engagement ring.  It was a snake with an emerald-set head.  The snake for Victoria was an emblem of eternal love.  The snake continues to be a popular symbol in jewelry.
