Bushman Kyonshi Goes to Africa ('91 Hong Kong) DVD Lam Ching-ying
Bushman Goes to Africa ('91 Hong Kong) DVD
A comedy depicting the chaos that unfolds when two East-meets-West characters, Koisaiman and a Jiangshi, meet and interact on the African continent. The mismatched premise and the parody elements, which even include Bruce Lee (actual film clips from his starring roles like The Big Boss are used), are hilariously absurd. Directed by Billy Chan, who previously served as martial arts choreographer for King Hu's A Touch of Zen and Bruce Lee's filmography before becoming a director, this is his fifth film. The screenplay is by Barry Wong, known for directing films such as God of Gamblers II and City Hunter. Starring Lam Ching-ying, familiar for his role as the Taoist priest in the Mr. Vampire series, and N!xau, who starred in The Gods Must Be Crazy and The Gods Must Be Crazy II. In Japan, it was only screened at the 1992 Tokyo International Fantastic Film Festival and was also shown as the opening film in the late-night screening series Phantom Blockbusters at the Nakano Musashino Hall.
