Antique Bavaria Porcelain Wash Basin Bowl 15" Lilac Floral Scalloped Schumann
Schumann
Beautiful antique German porcelain bowl featuring four large bouquets of pink and purple lilacs / hydrangeas with green leaves on a creamy white ground. Scalloped edge with 14 points. This is the large size - often called a wash basin, berry master bowl, or fruit centerpiece bowl from a Victorian wash set. Measurements: Approximately 14.5 - 15 inches diameter (measured ∼14.75 in photos) x about 3 tall. Heavy - similar basins weigh 7+ lbs. Please see yardstick photos for scale. Ruler is for size reference only. Maker's Mark: Faint green stamp on base - shield / crowned circle, very worn and hard to read. Consistent with Schumann Arzberg Bavaria and other Bavarian marks from 1918-1929 era. Attributed to Schumann Bavaria Lilac Time / Lilac pattern but selling as unmarked Bavaria due to faint mark. See close-up photo. Condition: Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear: • All-over crazing (fine crackle in glaze) with some brown staining in crazing - very typical for 100 year old semi-porcelain and adds character • Light surface wear / discoloration inside • No major chips or cracks seen - please review all photos closely as they are part of the description • Glossy glaze, decorative use recommended. Due to crazing, not recommended for direct food contact with acidic foods without a liner. A wonderful cottagecore / farmhouse / shabby chic display piece. Perfect as a centerpiece, fruit bowl, entry catch-all, or bathroom counter display.
