MONETTE Trumpet Mouthpiece STC-2 B4LD
This is the STC-2 B4LD, developed for Monette's lead players.
Because Monette himself aimed for high-note players like Ferguson,
it is also supported by lead players.
The STC-2 is Monette's second heaviest model, weighing 150g.
The model number engraving is hand-hammered.
The Prana model is Monette's new model, which undergoes annealing to change the metal's quality and backbore shape
from previous mouthpieces.
The body has a satin finish.
It fits Yamaha receivers with a gap of about 0.2mm.
The inner rim diameter is slightly larger than the current Bach 1-1/2C.
The rim is semi-flat, slightly more so than the current Bach 1-1/2C, with similar thickness.
The rim shape is gently sloped towards the outer edge.
Therefore, the outer rim diameter feels slightly smaller than the Bach 1-1/2C.
The cup is between a Bach C and D.
The throat is approximately #13 (4.57mm).
The straight section of the throat is quite long, designed for stable high notes.
The backbore is approximately Warburton 9.
The thickness of the shank end is about 0.6mm.
The airflow is smooth, and the feeling of playing is as if the vibrations within the cup are efficiently transmitted to the instrument.
This is a mouthpiece with a quick response and clear articulation.
Even at high notes, it produces Monette's signature thick and warm sound.
The design makes it easy to find the sweet spot for high notes, resulting in stable pitch and easy control.
When attached to an instrument, the bell naturally points upwards.
This improves the body balance during playing.
There are minor scratches and scuffs on the rim, body, shank, and shank end.
There are no major scratches, dents, or plating peeling that would affect playability.
