2011 Fuji TV Network Special Drama commemorating the end of the war
Hiroshima during the Pacific War. The protagonist, Suzu, heads from Hiroshima to Kure to marry Shusaku, a man she met only once as a child and whose face she doesn't even remember. While bewildered by her new family, new town, and new world, Suzu overcomes it all with her innate generosity. Eventually, she makes a friend named Rin. Rin was a prostitute, but Suzu interacted with her without prejudice. However, Suzu accidentally discovers that Rin was the woman her husband, Shusaku, had secretly been involved with before their marriage. Suzu agonizes, thinking she might be a substitute for Rin. Amidst this, Mizuhara, her childhood sweetheart and first love, appears before Suzu. Mizuhara has returned from the war and has come to confess his feelings for Suzu. While happy about Mizuhara's feelings, Suzu cannot forgive her husband and is consumed by thoughts of him. She has already come to love her husband with all her heart. Meanwhile, Rin, sensing Suzu's confusion, leaves behind a cryptic remark, If a secret remains a secret, it's as if it never happened, and disappears. Amidst this, the war situation becomes increasingly severe, and large-scale air raids finally begin on the city of Kure.
