Schilke 27 French Horn Mouthpiece
Founder Renold O. Shilke was active as a trumpet player with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and the WGN Radio Orchestra. While his talent as a performer was exceptional, he also made mouthpieces and tuned instruments during his playing career. Alongside his career as a top player, he taught at Northwestern University, DePaul University, Roosevelt University, and other institutions. His experience in these educational settings led him to recognize the need for mouthpieces tailored to individual players, and his work in creating them marked the beginning of what is today known as Shilke.
