Description
gorgeous set of Georg Jensen flatware Continental pattern.  total of 8 place settings (5 per) plus 9 serving pieces. Known for its hand-hammered, overlapping ribbon-like motifs at the base of the handle, offering a soft, light-reflecting Art Nouveau texture. Place settings include knife, fork, salad or dessert fork, oval soup spoon, teaspoon.Serving pieces are 4 medium oval serving spoons, 1 large serving spoon, 1 ladle, 2 olive forks, 1 sugar spoon.  This pattern was designed by Georg Jensen himself in 1906. It features a classic, Art Nouveau-influenced Nordic aesthetic with a signature lightly hammered surface and a flared, rounded handle base. It is also known in Denmark as the Antik pattern. Three Towers  830 silver indicates a pure silver content of 83%. This was the predominant standard used in Denmark before .925 sterling silver became globally ubiquitous.  This indicates the core of this set pre-dates 1930. This is noted by the 830S purity mark, and the Danish three-tower city assay stamp.  Most of this set is marked 830s.  1 knife, 1 medium serving spoon, 3 small serving pieces, 1 soup spoon, 8 salad forks, 8 teaspoons are marked Sterling meaning they were likely added to the original set to complete the settings.  All are authentic Georg Jensen carrying his maker's mark. Early 830 silver pieces such as this carry a premium among collectors due to their age, historical significance, and artisan hand-craftsmanship. includes a wooden silver storage box.
