A special box set featuring Paavo Järvi's masterful performances recorded for Erato and the former Virgin Classics, combining precision with profound expression. Includes previously unreleased recordings.

Born in Tallinn, Estonia in 1962, Paavo Järvi is renowned for his dynamic interpretations and innovative programming. He has held significant positions with leading orchestras such as the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, and Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich.

Järvi's approach blends technical accuracy with deep expressiveness, earning him popularity with both musicians and audiences. His numerous recordings have received prestigious awards (including a Grammy for Sibelius Cantatas), solidifying his reputation as one of the foremost conductors of his generation. He is a passionate advocate for Nordic composers like Sibelius, Grieg, and Arvo Pärt, interpreting their music with vigor and bringing their evocative and atmospheric works to life.

Disc 31 features the first release of Franck's Symphony in D minor, recorded live with the Orchestre de Paris in September 2023. Two pieces by Dukas and Roussel, which were briefly available digitally in part (currently unavailable), are specially recorded for this box set.

The liner notes are written by James Jolly, Honorary Editor of Gramophone magazine, who has followed Paavo's recordings and career for many years (in English only). The repertoire in this box set includes works by prominent Nordic composers such as Jean Sibelius (4 CDs), Arvo Pärt (2+ CDs), and Edvard Grieg (2 CDs), as well as rarer works by Wilhelm Stenhammar, Erkki-Sven Tüür, and Eduard Tubin. Particularly notable bestsellers include Grieg: Peer Gynt, Fauré: Requiem, Arvo Pärt: Summa, Lalo: Symphonie Espagnole (with Renaud Capuçon), and Dvořák: Cello Concerto (with Gautier Capuçon).
