Description
This impressive large lidded casserole dish is a hand-thrown piece of studio stoneware from Bill Brigham's Cowtown Pottery in Texas. It features a unique hand-sculpted rattlesnake handle on the lid and a beautiful multi-tone glaze with abstract Southwest-inspired brushwork. This is a heavy, functional piece of American craft pottery that doubles as a sculptural work of art. * Artist: Bill Brigham * Studio: Cowtown Pottery (USA) * Material: Hand-thrown Stoneware * Design: Sculpted Rattlesnake handle lid * Dimensions: Approx. 11 diameter x 9 tall to top of handle * Markings: Signed Bill BRIGHAM and COWTOWN USA on the base Great vintage condition with two minor character marks: a small chip on the tip of one of the snake's horns and a tight, stable kiln/stress line at the base of one handle. These are common in heavy artisan ceramics and do not affect structural integrity. The glaze remains vibrant and high-gloss throughout. We carefully select every item and believe in transparency. In the case of vintage or pre-owned items, we don't always know their full history, but we have high standards and won't list or sell anything we wouldn't use ourselves. All items come from a smoke-free home.
