Bassoon Finished Reed 1 pc Rieger
Thank you for looking.
This is a listing for one finished bassoon reed.
- Reed Dimensions:
Blade: Approx. 28mm
Tube: Approx. 30mm
Total Length: Approx. 58mm
Shaper used: Rieger No. 1a (tip width 15.50mm)
*Rieger No. 1a is an orthodox shaper that combines a cohesive tone with a rich resonance.
- Materials:
Rieger, Germany (Material origin: Southern France)
The cane has a slightly dark, rich, and flexible tone with good vibration.
The hardness of the cane selected and used is between 13-18 on the Reeds'n Stuff hardness gauge (slightly hard to slightly soft).
To minimize changes after finishing, the reeds are aged for approximately 2 months from assembly to finishing.
During the finishing process, the reed is scraped to ensure clear articulation at pianissimo (p) and a balanced sound from low to high notes, allowing for a wide dynamic range from pianissimo (p) to forte (f).
The reed is finished to maintain a resonant tone even when playing forte (f), making it suitable for:
- Players who prefer a slightly more resistant reed
- Players with larger lung capacity
- Players who enjoy reeds with some resistance
It is primarily recommended for intermediate to advanced players.
*Listed as Near Mint as the reed has been play-tested during the finishing process.
