Edited with an introduction and notes by Samuel J. Looker, this volume gathers previously uncollected essays on English rural life, farming, fieldsports, and the countryside, drawn in part from Jefferies' unpublished manuscripts. Illustrated throughout with plates by Richard and John Luckett Jefferies.  Bound in green cloth boards with the original pictorial dust jacket, featuring a striking black, white, and green woodcut-style design signed by artist Dodie Masterman. The book is presented in fair overall condition: please note the first several pages have become loose from the binding, a common issue with books of this age and construction, though the text block remains otherwise intact and readable.
