Vintage Navajo Sterling Silver Hand-Stamped Belt Buckle - "RB" Hallmark
RB Navajo
This substantial Navajo-made belt buckle is a masterwork of traditional Southwestern silversmithing. Crafted from heavy-gauge sterling silver, it features intricate hand-stamping with classic geometric patterns. This piece carries the RB hallmark, strongly suggesting it is the work of a prominent artist like Richard Begay or a high-quality production from the Running Bear Trading Co. Artist & Provenance Justification The RB mark is highly collected and frequently attributed to the late Richard Begay (1944–2014). Begay is renowned for his precision; while he was famous for inlays, he often produced exceptional all-silver work without stones during his career. This buckle may also be a piece produced through the Running Bear Trading Co., which often employed master silversmiths to create high-end, stone-free silver jewelry using their shop stamp. The rarity of signed, all-silver pieces of this weight and craftsmanship supports its value as a premium collectible. Material: Sterling Silver (Stamped STERLING). Approximately 2.77 ounces (78.5 grams), giving it a very substantial and durable feel. Design: Deep, crisp geometric hand-stamping on a rectangular face with traditional textured borders. Dimensions: Measures roughly 3 inches by 1.75 inches (refer to photo with ruler). Fits Belt Size: Standard buckle attachment accommodates belts up to 1.5 inches wide. The piece is in excellent vintage condition with a beautiful natural patina. We do not polish our silver.
