Up for sale is a beautiful mid-century example of Alvar Aalto's legendary undulating wave vase, produced by Iittala in Finland. This elegant, moody dark grey variation stands at the impressive 200mm size (approx. 7.87 inches)—making it a striking standalone piece of sculptural modern art. Signature: Authentic hand-engraved script signature Alvar Aalto on the base. Era (c. 1960–1980): Mid-to-late 20th century production, pre-dating modern laser/acid etching. Craftsmanship: Mouth-blown into a multi-part metal mold, giving the glass a beautifully smooth, high-gloss surface. Features the faint base mold seam characteristic of the artisan hand-blowing process from this era. This piece is in excellent vintage condition, featuring clear, bright glass with no mineral cloudiness or water staining. The iconic wavy rim is perfectly smooth and free of chips, cracks, fleabites, or repairs. True to its hand-blown origins, the glass shows wonderful artisanal character with just two tiny, stable bubble inclusions trapped inside, beautifully showcasing its handmade pedigree.
