Vtg Jewelry Box w/ Velvet Interior A. Villavecchia & Sons Union City, NJ MCM Era

Wonderful condition A. Villavecchia & Sons Jewelers Presentation Jewelry Box - MCM Era The company was once a Union City New Jersey Jewelers & Optical family business, which the family continues to own today in an updated capacity. The box is an avocado green thick plastic, which by use of this color, I would date from the 1960's to perhaps the early 1970's. A white trim edge shows on three sides to give it a streamlined modern look when it is closed, and the same white trim enhances an inside feature surrounding the velvet bed, and across the top of the inside edge is highlighted raised wording '14 Karat Gold'. The bed is a luxurious dark green soft velvet with 2 crosshatch holes that I assume once held clip earrings. The lid interior is lined with an ivory satin and features the original foiled label that names the jewelers. A raised crest is on the top, and it is marked on the bottom by the box maker, Alsten Co., also of New Jersey. The box, closed, measures 2.25 x 2.25 x 1.625 tall. A very nice 50-60- year-old mid-century box. Don't miss it, these nice older boxes are getting hard to find! Condition is very good. There are minimal mars or tiny scratches, but nothing distracting or interfering with its use. The most notable imperfection is pointed out in two photos. The interior lining and velvet look clean, and there is no smoke odor. Thanks for Looking!
