Vintage Brown Growler Bottle from The Borough Pub

Vintage Brown Beer Growler Bottle from The Borough Pub in Eddington, PA. It is a reusable, m glass container used to transport draft beer from breweries or brewpubs. Growlers usually hold 64 fluid ounces (half a gallon), equivalent to about five bottles of beer. They allow customers to take fresh draft beer home. Growlers help preserve the beer's flavor and ensure tap-quality upon opening. They can be purchased and refilled at breweries. Some establishments may exchange a used growler for a fresh one after cleaning and sanitizing. Growler fills can range from $12 to $24 depending on the beer type and location. (A smaller 32-ounce version is called a howler.) The term growler may originate from the rumbling sound of beer sloshing in a pail or the grumbling of impatient customers.
