Brass Patina Ornate Reticulated Oval 2pc Basket Base Potmetal Italy CT7 Vtg 60s

Generally described this type of vintage Italian bowl is an openwork Georgian-style pierced brass filagree bowl, or basket, originally designed for holding bread or fruit. I agree that it has a brass color finish, but I believe it to be a base type of pot metal with a brass wash instead of actual brass. The very ornate reticulated design shows an expected aged patina of the finish but wear peeking through the finish in little spots on the bottom, leads me to stand with the pot metal version. It does not attract a magnet. Wonderful Italian made, however, and would be a good candidate to spray paint any color. The base is a separate piece for the basket, and both are marked Made in Italy, also noted is the model number CT-7. My guess is that it was made for a souvenir for the many tourists that flocked Italy in the 1950's-60's. Measures 10 x 6 x almost 4 sitting on its base. Fab if you like that old-world patina look - would be glorious painted a glossy black or pretty pastel for holding your pretty Easter eggs fin a centerpiece!
