And while fabric makers squabble over whether their product is more waterproof and breathable (or even how to measure it), the bottom line is that every time I tested NeoShell I felt more comfortable than in Gore-Tex. The reason is air flow. The Jammu fabric is very slightly permeable—not enough to let in water, but enough to let water vapor escape faster than a hardshell using Gore-Tex. For skiing, climbing, and other winter pursuits, you stay completely dry
