The XL size was perfect for a regular size water bottle plus collapsable water bowl in one side. The petco good2go water bottle will fit in the extra large dog backpack (12 inches). The top of the backpack has straps that I used to tie and secure his used poo bags (carry in carry out). He crashed into a lot of trees and rocks throughout the 5 to 6 mile hikes and the bag has been very durable.
