◆Product Description

Vintage bridle leather is a leather that is slowly and carefully produced using traditional methods unchanged for centuries in the southern part of England. It uses a traditional British tanning method that has existed since Roman times. Raw hides and oak bark are layered alternately in pits filled with water, allowing the oak extract to permeate every part of the hide. After about a year of slow tanning, gradually increasing the concentration of oak extract in the pits, the leather is finished with bridle grease. This leather is known for its firmness, tensile strength, and durability, making it highly prized for use in horse tack. Dyeing is minimal, allowing the natural texture of the leather to shine through, so you can enjoy its rich aging process.
Vintage bridle leather is produced over approximately one year, with an added step of soaking the leather in oak bark extract during the tanning process. In this era of mass production, this primitive and inefficient production method results in limited quantities. Furthermore, only the finest hides are selected, highlighting the extreme rarity of this leather.
