Seimei Shrine (Seimei Jinja) is a shrine located in Seimeicho, Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto City. It enshrines Abe no Seimei as its principal deity and also enshrines Kurashitamatsuhime-no-mikoto. It is located on the former site of Seimei's residence, built northwest of Ichijo Modoribashi Bridge. Shrines of the same name exist throughout Japan, and its former rank was a village shrine.
Since the Heisei era, a boom in Abe no Seimei, the protagonist of Yumemakura Baku's novel, which has been adapted into manga and films, has led to visitors coming from all over the country. In 2005 (Heisei 17), the 1000th anniversary of Seimei's death, the Abe no Seimei Millennium Festival was held. In 2017 (Heisei 29), the shrine name board of the second torii gate was newly made, faithfully reproducing the one dedicated by Harutake Tsuchimikado in 1854 (Ansei 1). The shrine name board of the first torii gate features a five-pointed star as its crest.
