[Details]

Isasumi Shrine (いさすみじんじゃ), located in Aizu, Oonuma District, Fukushima Prefecture.

This is an ancient shrine mentioned in the Kojiki, with its founding believed to be around 2,000 years ago during the reign of the 10th Emperor, Sujin. It is said to have originated when Ohikonomikoto, dispatched to pacify the region, and his son Takenu-nakawakewake-nomikoto enshrined Izanagi and Izanami as deities for the protection of the nation on Mt. Mikagura (みかぐらだけ), near the border of Fukushima and Niigata Prefectures.

According to Engishiki, it is a Myojin Taisha (a shrine of high rank) and was known as Mutsu Province's Second Shrine. Its former official rank was Kokubei Chusha.
In the Heisei era, it was certified as Iwashiro Province's First Shrine by the National First Shrine Association.

Isasumi Shrine is known for its blessings in areas such as protection from bad directions, business prosperity, prayers for a bountiful harvest, warding off evil and bringing good fortune, and matchmaking. Due to its strong power as the general guardian of the Tohoku region for all directions, it covers all aspects including directions, geomancy, house divination, auspicious dates, unlucky ages, and star alignments (Kyusei Kigaku - Nine Star Astrology).
