【Rare】Ise Okihiki Ujiura Town Happi Coat

Thank you for looking!
This is a listing for a happi coat from Ise City.
It is believed to be an Oki-biki happi coat associated with the Shikinen Sengu (rebuilding ceremony) of Ise Jingu Shrine.

Oki-biki is a folk event in the town of Ise where the community dedicates timber for the rebuilding of Ise Jingu Shrine.

Shikinen Sengu is the grandest festival of Ise Jingu Shrine, held every twenty years, where new shrine buildings are constructed in the ancient style, and sacred vestments and treasures are prepared, and the gods move to a new shrine. Oki-biki is the folk event that evolved from the service of dedicating the timber for the shrine buildings. This is one of the few opportunities for citizens to participate in the Sengu-related events and is held over two years every twenty years.

Various styles of Hokisai (processional floats) and unique traditions are passed down within each group, making it the most exciting event in the town of Ise.

The Oki-biki event has been selected as a Tangible Cultural Property for which measures should be taken to record its creation by the country and has also been designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Property by Ise City.

This is a rare and valuable item that is difficult to obtain in other regions!
