This nib is popular and ranks among the top 4 recommended dip pens for penmanship practice.

The Newm color is a fine-tip type processed with aluminum. It is softer and smoother than chrome-colored nibs.
Additionally, the Newm color is characterized by minimal ink blotting and excellent wear resistance.

It is easy for beginners to handle and produces a mellow line, making it a fine-tip nib with many enthusiasts.
Reportedly, several instructors at the Japan Penmanship Study Association favor this pen.

Brand names vary:
- Nikko: ◆Saji Pen
- Tachikawa: ◆Spoon Pen
- Zebra: ◆Tama Pen

About Nib Manufacturers:
Lion, famous for office supplies, also produced nibs, but they are no longer manufactured.
Pen tip production and sales were discontinued in 1996, over 20 years ago.
Currently, the Japanese nib brands available are Tachikawa, Nikko, and Zebra.

Nikko brand has been succeeded by Tachikawa, so only Tachikawa and Zebra are the current manufacturers.
Zebra nibs are a popular brand, supported by instructors at the Japan Penmanship Study Association.

There are claims that older items have better performance.
During the period of high economic growth, around 1985 (Showa 60), the production of dip pens reached astronomical figures of 1 million gross (1 gross = 144 pieces). However, there are fewer artisans now, and it is said that the skills of past artisans were higher.
Furthermore, Newm color nibs show little deterioration and are said to retain their original performance even today.
While they may have some tarnishing due to tin plating, it does not affect their performance.
I also enjoy calligraphy, and I change my nibs depending on what I am writing.
Zebra nibs are among my favorite.
