Solo Trip Through Asia

This piece is woven on a rag rug loom, combining 100% cotton fabric dyed with green tea (iron mordant) with materials such as kimono and dress fabrics.

The plain gray sections are naturally dyed with plants.

Various colors and patterns are incorporated, creating a wonderful work.

You can enjoy both the rustic texture of the green tea dye and the rag weaving.

◎ The thick white warp threads are high-quality threads made from kudzu fibers.
They have a smooth texture.
Please be sure to feel them when you receive the item.

● Wash gently by hand or in a washing machine using a laundry net.

● To prevent fading of the green tea dyed areas, we recommend using a neutral detergent if you use detergent.

◎ I sometimes use a small amount of dish soap.

● Store away from direct sunlight.

● Please avoid using bleach.

This product is in collaboration with a Type B employment support facility that started this month (February 2026).

This piece was created by me bringing a rag rug loom to the facility, having the participants experience weaving, and weaving it together.

This time, three individuals participated, and they worked very carefully. They also helped with dismantling the kimonos and cutting them into thin strips.

In return for their assistance with part of the process, I make a monthly payment to the facility, though it is not a large amount.

In addition to my assistance, they also undertake work from other fields, and the proceeds from those activities, along with my contribution, are paid to the participants as wages.

It is deeply moving for me that a single piece of work is born from such collaboration.
