☆Spode went bankrupt in 2008, making this a rare, collectible item. This is the Fleur de Lys Red by Spode of England. Among the Fleur de Lys series, this is a particularly gorgeous red design featuring the French royal emblem of the fleur-de-lis. This series was manufactured from 1961 to 1994. When discussing bone china, it's impossible to overlook Spode, one of the four great potteries of England. It was Spode who perfected bone china, which was incomplete at the time, in the late 18th century, and later succeeded with fine bone china.
IRENE is pronounced Irene in English, and Irene in Latin and German. IRENE is famously known in Greek mythology as the goddess of the seasons and peace.
This piece seems to capture the essence of flowers blooming throughout the changing seasons within a single cup. It's a wonderful item for both use and display.
