This is a safe and secure bathing sand, finely processed and sterilized at high temperatures for extended periods. It's perfect for bird dust baths, as well as for chinchillas, hamsters, reptiles, and other small animals. My hamsters seem to enjoy it more than commercial bath sands.

This is a 2-bag set, and due to the considerable weight, I will cover the shipping and handling fees for anonymous shipping with simple packaging.

Our healthy baked sand for small birds is made from carefully selected, high-quality natural sand that has been sterilized at high temperatures for extended periods, making it safe and clean. The edges are also processed to be smooth, so as not to injure the skin, making it ideal for small birds and small animals that enjoy dust baths. It is also recommended as a substrate for reptiles such as tortoises and lizards. Please spread about 1cm of baked sand on the bottom of your birdcage or pet enclosure. To maintain cleanliness, sift the baked sand every 3-4 days to remove waste and droppings.
[About Bird Digestion]
Healthy baked sand for small birds is essential for birds beyond just dust bathing. Birds eat sand as needed to help digest their food. Since birds do not have teeth, they cannot chew their food. They essentially swallow their food whole. However, without assistance, they cannot digest and absorb it. They use a digestive organ called the gizzard (or suna no u in Japanese) to grind down food, making it easier to digest and absorb. The gizzard is filled with the sand that the bird has swallowed. This sand helps grind food and aids in digestion. The part of a chicken known as the gizzard is the equivalent of this organ.
