These were stored in their box at my parents' home.

Shu-dame lacquer is a lacquerware technique where transparent tame-urushi (a type of lacquer) is applied multiple times and polished over a base coat of red lacquer (shu-urushi). As it is used, the tame-urushi on the surface becomes more transparent, and the red color underneath gradually changes to a bright amber color, allowing you to enjoy the aging process. It is characterized by its elegant and deep reddish-brown color, used in traditional crafts such as Murakami wood-carved tsuishu.
