Nishimura Kōgetsu (First), though now deceased, was honored as an Honorary Citizen of Tokyo Metropolis, an Honorary Citizen of Sumida Ward, and received numerous awards for his contributions to the arts.
I had the opportunity to learn about Kabuki from First Nishimura while he created this Oshie Hagoita for me.

The artwork is a decorative battledore called Oshie Hagoita, featuring Kabuki and Japanese dance actors as its subject, characterized by its wooden handle.
Traditional Craftsmanship: Made using the Oshie technique, which has continued since the Edo period. This technique involves wrapping thick paper with cloth, stuffing it with cotton, and creating a three-dimensional finish through skilled craftsmanship.

The actors' expressions and kimono patterns are all hand-painted and colored, with the vibrant costumes expressed in three dimensions.

Although First Nishimura has passed away, I am also getting older, and rather than keeping this item, I wish to pass it on to the next generation, which is why I am listing it for sale.
I kindly ask that it be purchased by someone who understands and appreciates it.
The price has been set exceptionally low.

Additionally, a newspaper clipping from the Nikkei Shimbun (January 3, 2012, Heisei 24) will be included.

Thank you for viewing.
