Thank you for viewing!
This is the Masumasu Jūbun Hai (More than Enough Cup) HoDo-HoDo mini, a mechanical sake cup with ties to the Nagaoka domain.
This item has been stored in new, unopened condition.

[About the Product]
This is a siphon-type mechanical masu (square wooden cup) that conveys the lesson of knowing when you have enough through a unique mechanism.
It is said that Lord Tadatoshi Makino, the third lord of the Nagaoka domain, cautioned himself and his retainers, stating that if you act with about 80%余裕 (yoyū - room/leeway), everything will go well.
If you fill the cup with sake or water to about 80% full, it will not spill. However, if you greedily fill it to the brim, it will leak out every last drop through a hole in the bottom, thanks to its ingenious mechanism.
This is a stylish sake cup that allows you to enjoy the profound lesson of if you are greedy, you will lose everything while drinking sake.
