Hornsea Bronte 1976 Oil & Vinegar Bottles
Vintage Item
Product Description
This is a condiment dispenser (oil or vinegar) from the renowned British pottery, Hornsea. The pattern is from the popular Bronte series, produced from 1972 onwards, and the backstamp reads 1976.
Hornsea is the name of a small port town in East Yorkshire, where the Rawson Brothers began making pottery from a small kiln in 1949. Their ceramics, with colors and contemporary designs that were the opposite of the mainstream British pottery at the time, gained popularity and sales expanded from household tableware to hotel ware. However, the company closed in 2000 due to failed business expansion.
Hornsea tableware is durable, and its unique colors and patterns make it instantly recognizable. This Bronte pattern is named after the family name of the famous Bront? sisters.
