【97mm♀】 Macho Grasshopper (Mantis-like Cricket) - Specimen
Scientific Name: Colossopus grandidieri
Common Names: Macho Grasshopper / Lobster Grasshopper
This is a nocturnal bush cricket endemic to southwestern Madagascar.
It was briefly a trending topic on Twitter.
We highly recommend it for its muscular forelegs and beautiful, translucent jade-colored legs! The coloration is well-preserved in specimens.
The pale brown, cigar-shaped eggs are laid one by one in the soil. Although only 6mm at oviposition, they grow significantly over 3 months to a year. Females lay 150 to 200 eggs in their lifetime. Adult females and males have similar body coloration, but the upper lip is reddish-orange in females and yellowish-orange in males. When encountering foreign objects, adults adopt a defensive posture by standing on their hind legs, spreading their forelegs, and opening their mandibles. When assuming this posture, adult males emit a high-pitched chirp, while adult females do not. If a foreign object approaches, C. grandidieri will grasp it with its forelegs and attempt to bite with its mandibles.

We will ship the female specimen pictured from Madagascar.
My measurement, including the ovipositor, was 97mm.
