Sendai Tsuishu Wooden Carving, Confectionery Bowl, Made by Nanchu
Thank you for looking.
This is a beautiful floral pattern in a bright vermilion color.
It is lightweight and I think it would be lovely for anything you put in it or display, depending on your ideas.
[What is Sendai Tsuishu?]
A practical lacquerware created through a meticulous, handcrafted process from wood carving to polishing and lacquering.
Tsuishu is one of the techniques in lacquerware production called Choshitsu, where a pattern is carved into multiple thick layers of red lacquer. These techniques originated in China and are said to have been introduced to Japan during the Kamakura and Muromachi periods. In Japan, lacquerware carved into wood and finished with red lacquer has been called Tsuishu.
Sendai Tsuishu began during the Date clan's feudal era.
Note) This was a gift for an inner celebration, so there is a name written on the back. Therefore, I am listing it at a low price. I would like to give it to someone who can use it without worrying about the name.
