This is Tochigi Leather, a high-quality domestic leather. It is, of course, a split leather from pit-tanned, vegetable-tanned (nume) leather.
This is normal Tochigi Leather, without saddle or oil processing.
Because it is pit-tanned, the edges can be polished beautifully, and stamps also enter cleanly. However, there are also disadvantages such as lower durability compared to leather with the grain side.
It has various uses such as for core materials, practice for creating prototypes, leather strops, and stacked leather. Those who purchase half hides often have excess, but perhaps those who purchase cut leather find it insufficient?
Split leather is often sold as half hides, but it is often left over, so we have cut it to A4 size.
The thickness is around 2.0-2.5mm. There are natural scratches and wrinkles, as well as small scratches from storage.
