This is a steel ajikiri knife.
It is double-edged, so it can be used with the same feel as a household kitchen knife.
It was originally kuro-uchi (blacksmith's finish), but for rust prevention purposes for use in outdoor activities such as camping, it was polished to a mirror finish and then treated with black rust using black tea and lemon juice. As a result, it has a black sheen all over.
The handle has been coated with linseed oil for waterproofing. Wax has also been poured into the base to prevent water from entering.
Before listing, the entire knife was washed and wiped clean. Rust preventative oil for blades was applied to the blade, and linseed oil was applied to the handle.
The blade was also finished and sharpened with whetstones in the order of #1000, #3000, and #8000.
It cuts newspaper with ease.
Although it has been treated for black rust, as it is made of steel, it will rust if left wet.
As this is a used item, there are minor scratches, dirt, and rust throughout.
