Salt & Pepper Shakers, Danish Design, 1960s
These are vintage 1960s Danish salt and pepper shakers purchased during a business trip to Denmark.
This is a luxurious item, featuring rosewood for the wooden parts, a wood that is now difficult to obtain due to logging restrictions. Rosewood has been used for furniture, musical instruments, and crafts due to its durability and beautiful grain, but its popularity led to illegal logging and smuggling by gangs, making imports strictly regulated.
The design is small and comes with a mid-century design tray, making it a charming addition to keep on your table.
There are some signs of use, but overall they are in good condition.
One shaker has one hole for salt, and the other has three holes for pepper.
The rubber lids on both function, but the salt shaker's lid is slightly looser. You may need to make some adjustments if you want it to fit snugly.
