These are turmeric bulbs that produce flowers as shown in the image. They were dug up from my parents' home where they have been planted for many years.
I believe it is likely Autumn Turmeric. It had a ginger-like aroma when harvested. The cut surface is a vivid orange color.
One clump will be placed in a Yu-Packet Post Mini envelope.

I'm not sure of the specifics, but from what I've researched, you can slice washed and dried turmeric.
It is said to be good for brewing into tea or grinding into powder with a mill for cooking, after drying for 4-5 days.
It can also be used as a dye.
Normally, they are harvested in December.
Now is the planting season. How about using them as seed potatoes, or for ornamental purposes as they produce lovely flowers?
I'm going to try making turmeric myself now.
