■ Simply lay the tatami mat to refresh your tatami room. Use it to refresh sun-faded tatami or as a cover to protect new tatami from getting dirty.
■ Made from domestic (Kyushu-grown) igusa, 100-105 cm in length.
■ The edges of the trim will appear slightly whitish (this is not sun fading, but the color of the root and tip ends of the igusa), but this is an affordable and accessible product.
■ Longer igusa is of higher quality. Igusa is reddish-brown at the tip, white at the root, and green in the middle. The more of the good quality green part in the middle is used, the more durable and beautifully finished the product will be. Igusa will fade over time with use, but products using more of the green part will fade evenly and develop a nice patina.
■ Made from domestic (Kyushu-grown) igusa. Each strand of domestic igusa is thick, with a dense surface and fine fibers, making it resilient and highly durable. Igusa has air purifying and humidity regulating properties, and is resistant to dirt.
■ Treated with Hiba (cypress) processing (antibacterial and deodorizing effects).
