? Below is the product description from the Shirokiya Denbei online shop.

This is a paper dustpan (harimi) made by layering thick paper and coating it with persimmon tannin.

The outer frame is fitted with bamboo, giving this dustpan (harimi) a combination of strength and durability along with appropriate flexibility and lightness.

Persimmon tannin is a natural coating, similar to lacquer. Therefore, it does not generate static electricity, so the collected dust and debris will not cling to the surface of the harimi. When emptying the collected dust and debris into a trash can, it will fall off smoothly and without stress.

The balance of persimmon tannin and pigment is carefully considered, and each piece is hand-coated. Therefore, you may notice unevenness in the coating on the surface, but this does not affect the functionality or strength of the dustpan in any way.

This is a product made from natural materials and is entirely handmade by artisans. We would appreciate your understanding regarding slight unevenness in coating, wrinkles, etc.

When sweeping collected dust and debris into the harimi, gently press the back of the harimi. This will cause the curved opening to fit snugly against the floor. Sweeping in this position will allow you to efficiently collect dust and debris into the harimi.

Additionally, the opening of the harimi may become wavy, making it difficult to sweep in dust and debris.

If this happens, hold the opening of the harimi with both hands and gently, slowly, and firmly bend it towards the center. This will correct the wavy appearance of the opening.

Thank you for your understanding.
We look forward to your business.
