After 6 years of beekeeping,
I've made and remade several hives to finally arrive at this design.
Standard large hives become unexpectedly heavy with the weight of honey, so much so that women cannot lift them. Working on a ladder is difficult.
While harvesting honey is enjoyable, it can also be challenging with agitated bees.
Therefore, I created a hive with a size that makes harvesting easier for women, the elderly, or those with less strength.
To keep it cool in the summer, a wire mesh can be attached and the bottom board removed, allowing the bees to live comfortably.
Ceiling Board: 23 cm (width) x 23 cm (depth) x 2.5 cm (thickness)
Extension Box: 23 cm (width) x 23 cm (depth) x 2.5 cm (thickness) x 15-17 cm (height)
Play Area Entrance Box: 23 cm (width) x 23 cm (depth) x 21.5 cm (height from bottom)
Entrance Hole: Approx. 3 mm
Entrance Bottom Board: 17 cm (width) x 26 cm (depth) x 2 cm (thickness)
Wax Moth Repellent Box: 23 cm (width) x 23 cm (depth)
Honey is slippery during harvest,
so it comes with handles for easy lifting.
Thin bamboo strips (naturally processed) are attached inside the extension boxes to prevent comb collapse. The bottom of the entrance box is a drawer type for easy cleaning of droppings. The entrance hole is openable.
Please note that cedar wood may warp, resulting in slight dimensional errors.
There are scratches and dirt.
