Pendant Light, Postmodern, Japanese Modern
This is a pendant light called High Beam Light by National.
The resin shade has a textured, matte finish that softly diffuses light. Its rounded form evokes Japanese retro glass lighting while also possessing a somewhat international feel.
A notable feature is the use of resin, which was easy to handle and less prone to discoloration over time, unlike the glass and metal materials that were common at the time. The bulb installation was designed to be simple, and the structure allowed for various variations by layering separately sold shades on top of the main unit.
For these reasons, I personally consider this one of National's most well-executed products. I recommend using the base unit alone, as its shape is well-balanced and blends naturally into any space.
