【Showa Retro / Hatsuyuki Manual Shaved Ice Machine】

This is a manual shaved ice machine from the Showa era, bearing the name Hatsuyuki (First Snow).
With its pale light blue cast iron body and designs reminiscent of Mt. Fuji, waves, and a treasure ship, this machine exudes a sense of good fortune.

Hatsuyuki was cherished as a symbol of good luck bringing coolness in summer, and the Mt. Fuji motif is said to have conveyed meanings of number one in Japan and auspiciousness.
Furthermore, the flowing decorations depicted on the lower part evoke the treasure ship of the Seven Lucky Gods, a design that reflects the wish for prosperity of the Showa period.

Today, such highly decorative cast iron shaved ice machines are rare, making this piece stand out not only as a functional item but also as store fixtures, props for photography, or a collectible.

While there are signs of age such as rust, scratches, and paint peeling, we hope you will enjoy the unique character that comes with a tool that has weathered the years.
