Description
This is called Hotaru-yaki (firefly ware), a special type of pottery where faint, round light appears to shine through when held up to a light, resembling fireflies.
It is made using a technique where holes are punched into the side of the vessel while it is still semi-dry, and then filled with a transparent glaze before firing.
While called Hotaru-yaki in Japan, it is known as Linglong in China.
This piece can be enjoyed not only for tea ceremonies but also as a work of art.
This is an antique item that has been stored at home.
It is in beautiful condition with no chips, cracks, or breaks.
It was exhibited at a Chinese tea event and is likely unused.
